Raiwaqa pumped up for Fiji Games

Raiwaqa is sending three basketball teams to the Fiji Games in Lautoka this weekend. Raiwaqa boasts the services of national reps Peni Sokia and Frank Soqeta to boost the side ahead of the national meet. Coach Peniasi Kainamoli said, the three teams, two men’s and a women’s, team were selected after the Raiwaqa Knockout Tournament last week. “We only have three days to train together and prepare ourselves for the tournament,” Kainamoli said. “The players are in top form because we have been playing together in the past few weeks. “This helped maintain players’ fitness hence keeping them together before featuring for the Fiji Games,” he said. The Raiwaqa basketball teams were selected from clubs like Boston, Warriors, Mighty Mights and Bryceland. Kainamoli said a young side has been selected as well to give them an opportunity to prove their worth in major local competitions.

Fiji Basketball Association development officer, Laisiasa Puamau said, nine men’s and eight women’s teams will take part in the tournament.
