Vikings in top form
VIKINGS took out the Lautoka pre-Easter Basketball Championship at the Sugar City multipurpose courts yesterday. The Vikings team remained unbeaten in the men's and women's divisions.
National reps Jale Vunisa, Don Chan and Peter Chambers were part of the Vikings men's outfit. Namoli was the surprise in the round robin competition. Lautoka Basketball League secretary Simi Cagilaba said Nadi and Youngsters failed to turn up for the tournament.
He said they would round up the league competition next week before heading to Suva for the Easter Championship. "The teams are preparing well for the big event in the Capital City. In our pre-Easter tournament, Namoli proved to be the surprise package. The side has returned to basketball after several years and are doing exceptionally well."
Namoli, Nadi and Vikings women's team will participate in the Easter Championship. The men's teams from the Western Division will be represented by Vikings, Namoli, Youngsters, Nadi and Bankstown.
The Easter Championship will be held from April 22-24.
