Natabua tops basketball

Natabua High School dominated the Western Zone secondary school basketball competition after round four on Saturday. The Lautoka school tops the points table in the Under-17, U16 and U15 categories and are also favourites in the girls’ U19 and U15 grades.

Central College Lautoka which have national rep Pita Nacagilevu are favorites for the U19 boys.
Western Zone basketball development officer Kelevi Serukalou said many students and schools were taking a lot of interest in the sport. “We are really impressed with the increasing number of students taking part every week,” Seukalou said. “We are trying to get more schools into the competition like the Ba schools, Xavier College and DAV.

“Most of these schools are already part of our development programme but have yet to join the competition. Natabua U15 girls defeated Lautoka All Stars team 36-10 and they lost to Tilak in U17 10-11. In the boys’ division Natabua defeated Lautoka All Stars 13-10 in the U15 grade and in the U17 games Ba All Stars defeated Natabua One 26-13 and Natabua Two defeated Nadi All Stars 19-15. Central College defeated Tilak 23-12 in the U19 boys’ game.

(Boys) – U15 Natabua 13 LTK All Stars 10; U17 Natabua Team One 13-Ba All Stars 26; Natabua Team Two 19 Nadi All Stars 15; U19  Central 23 Tilak 12.
