Netballer jumps court

Serua Island lass Disiola Boseiwaqa will be out for her first international tournament in next week’s Federation of International Basketball Associations’ (FIBA) Oceania Basketball Tournament at Wellington, New Zealand from November 28 to December 3.
The 18-year-old made a switch to basketball from netball this year and feels that her new sport has her interest.
“I’m a netball player, but I found the switch good.
“I see more opportunities and it is also where my interest lies,” Boseiwaqa said.
The foundation student of the University of the South Pacific knows it’s her duty to perform well and make her country proud.
“I will make sure to put out my best performance and prove myself as one of the best basketball player in Fiji.”
She plays netball with Lomaiviti in the Suva Netball competition and Chosen Basketball Club for Raiwaqa Basketball Association.

Coca-Cola supports team

For the third year, Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji Limited has shown their support towards Fiji Basketball Federation. The  Fiji Basketball women’s and men’s national teams preparing for the  FIBA Oceania Basketball Tournament  in Wellington,  New Zealand received a boost ahead of the tour.
Coca- Cola Amatil Fiji donated the team’s merchandises like caps, Tee-shirts, sports bags and also Powerade drinks for the teams to drink in New Zealand.
Coca-Cola Amatil general manager Steven Jowell said they were happy to assist the teams.
“We hope that they will go out there and do their best and make the country proud,” Jowell said.

Team for top 3

Women’s captain Dale Wise Sauqaqa said would play for top three finish. “We are currently ranked fifth. For this tournament, we will put out our best performance to finish in the top three. “This is a good team even though there might be some new players in the side,” Sauqaqa said.
