SJSS basketballer looks forward to NZ trip

The youngest member of the national women’s basketball team Tiyana Kainamoli is eager to gain as much experience as possible at the Oceania Pacific Basketball Championships in Wellington, New Zealand next week.

The Saint Josephs Secondary School Fourth form student, who lists national skipper Dale Wise as one player she looks up to, is looking to learn from her senior team mates during the week-long tournament.

“I feel very happy and very fortunate to go with our senior team. I’m gaining a lot from our senior players, and I hope to develop.”

The women’s team is pooled with Australia, New Caledonia and Guam.

While the Fiji men are grouped with New Caledonia, Samoa and New Zealand Maori.

Both teams leave for New Zealand on Wednesday.
