Basketballers' bond

THE BLK Fiji under-19 men's and women's teams took time out of court to attend a bonding session at the Togalevu Naval Base yesterday.

The teams used the day-long session to build on the team spirit in build-up for the FIBA U19 Oceania Championship 2014 to be held from December 1 to 6 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

The women's coach Dale Wise said the bonding session was important for the players.

She said the activities they did during the session was relevant to the game and their preparation towards the championship.

"They have conducted five stations focusing on the leadership activities," Wise said.

"Its (team bonding session) very important because we have young girls coming out for the first time and this opportunity allows them to test their leadership, the teamwork, the sense of urgency, the attention to details, their timeliness which I can say is very important and it relates to the game and our preparation towards it."

Wise said they hope the session would change the perspective of the players towards the game.

"I hope this not only give them the team spirit but also change the whole way of looking at the game," she said.

"They have been getting good reviews from the instructors and they're really working together. We have achieved a lot in this one day session.

"We thank the Fiji Navy for giving us the opportunity and our sponsors BLK and the parents of the players for their support."
