National Youth Men & Women Training Camp, 09

With many regulars missing, there are a lot more new faces.

Monday's training camp focused on the youths getting to know each other.

"A major lesson the players will be taking is communication because they must know each other well to play well," Simpson said.

The two All-Stars players Manoa Puamau and Brittany Hazelman are also part of the camp and they will be leaving Fiji in early February for the National State Championship in Australia.

In the Western Division, a similar camp is under-way with the Australian Youth Ambassador Mark Seccombe.

"It is exciting and the players have improved really well in the two days that have passed," said Seccombe.

The Western Division camp has 11 boys and 18 girls. Seccombe said that the girl's level of playing was good and although the boys were a little behind, they were willing to put in the hard yards.

April will see both Western and Eastern squads coming together and around May they are expecting to have some overseas teams come on a tour. So preparations are underway.
