Raiwai's ready

THE Raiwai Youth Development Program team is gearing up to make its debut in the Easter Basketball Championship from April 7-11 at the Vodafone Arena.

Raiwai Basketball official Kelevi Serukalou said the major focus in competing at the championship was to expose the players to a higher level of competition.

"This is our first time in the competition so we are just looking to give exposure to our youths during the championship," Serukalou said

The Raiwai Under-20s had build-up matches against Yat Sen last Saturday.

Those matches saw its boys lose 40-45 and girls beaten 30-47.

"The players are really skillful and they are improving each day.

"We are holding weekly matches to up-skill them.

"Some of the U12 players are playing in the RYDP team and quite number of players are from the Fiji Youth training squad."

RYDP has likes of national youth representatives Verenaisi Matanasiga and Walter Ravuya spearheading the team's campaign in the Easter Championship.0
