Top five teams for Easter meet

The Suva/Laucala Basketball Association will field the top five teams at the Easter Championship in April. Association’s president Leonard Whippy said the last team will be determined on Thursday. Saints, Shaq Attaq, Idaman Air Iguana and Beach Liners will play in the Easter Championship. “The Easter Games is a good tournament where many of players especially the young ones are exposed,” Whippy said. Seven teams competed at the International Secondary School courts with three teams vying for the last spot for the Easter Games yesterday. “Knights, Pitbull and Idaman are playing for the last available spot because Basketball Fiji allocated five spots for our best teams,” said Whippy. Competition level was really high as all teams strived for a place. The Easter game is the biggest competition that will be hosted by Basketball Fiji where the Suva and Western teams will be battling for the title. Defending champion Shaq Attack beat Beach Liners 32-27 and will face the might of the Saints in next weeks final after beating Air Iguana by 64-30. The final is scheduled for Thursday at 7pm at the Vodafone Arena.
