FIBA Oceania Expert arrives in the Country

Basketball Fiji in partnership with FASANOC and the Fiji Prisons & Correction Department have brought in FIBA Oceania Zone Development Officer Ryan Burns to conduct a series of Coaching and Referees workshop in Suva and Lautoka on the 23rd – 30th September 2010. In addition Ryan Burns will work closely with the National U20 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams who are currently preparing to compete in the FIBA Oceania Youth U20 Tournament which will be held in New Caledonia in the month of October.

Basketball Development Officer Laisiasa Puamau said that FIBA Oceania development officer 6 days visit would be of great beneficial to the sport as it is in line with Basketball Fiji’s strategic plan to build on the federations base numbers of coaches and referees in the country. With the increase number of players and teams in the country there is a great need for accredited basketball coaches and Mr. Burns visit should address this issue.

Ryan Burns comes from a very solid basketball background and this would be a great opportunity for interested referees and coaches to learn from his expertise. His visit will start with a FIBA Oceania Level 1 Coaching Course which has been organised at FASANOC in Suva on Friday 24th September from 6.00pm – 9.00pm.
