Foster's sponsors competitions

THREE sports were given a handsome sponsorship by Foster's Group Pacific Limited (FGPL) to help them stage their upcoming competition.

Nasinu Netball Association (NNA), Basketball Fiji (BF) and Fiji Men's and Mix Netball Association (FMMNA) hit a mini-jackpot yesterday after Foster's came to their rescue.

NNA will start their Fiji Gold club competition today and association president Alini Sovu said the $5,000 will be used on improving their competition level. "We assure the sport will go a long way and with six national players playing in this competition, this sponsorship will certainly help them to prepare well for the national duties," Sovu said.

Basketball Fiji development officer Laisiasa Puamau said the sponsorship ($5000) will help them stage a bigger and better annual Fiji Bitter Easter Championship. Puamau said with an increase in the number of teams from last year, the sponsorship will help them provide more and better prizes to the winning teams.

FMMNA president Doctor Laisenia Taleniwesi said this was their first sponsorship. He said the $2000 boost from Foster's would help them stage the inaugural Tribe men's and mixed competition. Foster's sales and marketing manager Joe Rodan said they were happy to associate their products with the various sports.

"We have been sponsoring all types of sport because we believe sports bring people together. Sports is a great way of building this nation," he said.
