WAYMANN WHACKED, POSECI DOWN

Waymann’s injury necessitated him being taken to hospital also and required 3 stiches to his right eye.  The injury wasn’t so bad as was the bill.  US$577 (FJ$930) later he was able to leave and come back to join the team.  Waymann is OK and is able to play today.
Coach Moce’s condition is far worse by comparison.  He collapsed in his room and was taken to hospital by ambulance where he was accompanied by daughter Ofa.  All reports are sketchy as to his condition but his family back home have been notified and are aware of his condition.  The latest reports suggest that he is OK and will be released from hospital this evening.  Fortunately Salote is here and will be able to take care of him. Once discharged we shall monitor his condition and look at the prospect of getting him back to Fiji for further treatment if necessary.

Ofa was able to return to the team and take part in the game against Australia while Salote and Liz Gittens were able to stay with Poseci.  With Baravi at the hospital he took the opportunity to visit Poseci as did Steve Smith, FIBA Oceania Secretary General.  We in Basketball Fiji and the teams here in Guam wish Coach Poseci a speedy and full recovery.
