INJURIES CONTINUE TO PLAGUE TEAMS

Carrol’s left knee was placed in a splint as we waited for about 20 minutes for the ambulance to arrive.  She was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital along with manager Mere and men’s coach Lai.  There she received treatment for a dislocated left patella and after some 5 hours and a bill for US$1,172.04 (FJ$1,800) she was discharged with her knee in a support brace and a pair of crutches.  To have such an injury so early in her basketball career was a bit of a shock, however, we are confident that she will be OK in a few months.  As soon as we get home, Carroll will undergo further assessment and treatment from our favourite physio, Sharlene Nand.
Carrol is now in good spirits and is the team’s main supporter, besides if we get into trouble she can always hit them with her crutches.
We wish Carroll a full and speedy recovery so that she can get back to developin g her basketball skills for the future.  Coach Poseci is still in hospital and reports indicate that they are trying to monitor his heart rate and slow it down enough for him to be discharged.
