Schools Basketball at the Arena

The five-day National Secondary Schools Basketball Championships starts on Saturday at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Forty four teams representing 13 schools will be competiting in the U15, U17 and U19 grades for both boys and girls.

The competition would be held from August 22 to August 27.

Five new schools have confirmed their participation. These schools are Monfort Boys Town, Laucala Bay Secondary, Ba Provincial, Indian College and Korean School. Basketball Fiji anticipates more than 550 players to participate.

The Vodafone Arena and Eds court in Raiwaqa will be used as venues due to the large number of team’s participating in the event and Arena only available for four days.

The U17 grades for both boys and girls will be played at Eds Court, Raiwaqa. All finals will be played at Vodafone Arena.

The opening ceremony will be followed by HIV/AIDS clinic. A 20 minute break will be given after the clinic before the pool games begin.

An Awards Night has been organized by the sub-committee at Lambert Hall on August 27 from 7pm to 12pm.
