Dudley scores win

NEWCOMER Dudley High School caused the upset of day one in the Suva Secondary School Basketball competition at Eds court yesterday. DHS defeated Saint Joseph Secondary School 21-18 to register their first win on their debut game. DHS, Adi Cakobau School and John Wesley College were the three new inclusions this year. Fiji basketball development officer Laisiasa Puamau said the result spoke volume of what the competition would be. "It was surprising to see the result and I think the first day of competition was exciting to watch as schools display their knowledge of the game. Day one runs smoothly and I believe there will be improvement in the next days of competition." "The news schools like John Wesley did extremely well. They played according the basics of the game and this is very interesting to lift the level of competition to another level," he said. Puamau said the inclusion of the new school added another flavour to the competition.

"It is good to see these schools showing interest in joining. It is a big encouragement and certainly will lift the standard," he added.
