Laucala ups tempo

Laucala Bay Secondary School poses the greatest threat ahead of the National Schools Championships. The school which joined the basketball competition last year has been providing tight competition to favourites Latter Day Saints College, Gospel High School and Yat Sen Secondary School. Fiji Basketball development officer Lai Puamau said LBSS is picking up quickly especially their junior grades, Under 14, 15 and 16. “They’ve been really good. “Even though they have been losing some of their matches, their performances were just great. “Many of these big schools are finding it hard to control their game when playing against Laucala. “They will definitely be providing tight competition at the upcoming national championships and will be favourites as well in the coming years. Puamau added newcomer Adi Cakobau School will be the team to watch after defeating LDS girls 18-6 last week. Meanwhile, International Secondary School will join the Suva Secondary School competition next week. All games were held at the Ed’s Court in Raiwaqa and Yat Sen School yesterday. The Suva competition, which continues with round five, next week is the build up to the national competition next month.
