I do what I believe in: Koroi

"This is the first time for me to take part in an international match and I have faith in myself that I will be able to do well in Australia next week.’ These were the words of the 17-year-old Ulaiasi Koroi, the youngest player in the Fiji men’s Under-19 basketball team, competing at the Oceania Youth Championships in Melbourne, Australia on November 26. The seventh former of Marist Brothers High School said he just had to do his best to be one of the best in the team.“The selectors selected me during the trials at the beginning of the year and I want to thank them for trusting me and giving me the chance to be part of the national team.“This is the first time for me to represent the country internationally and I will make sure I will do my best,” Koroi said.
The Wailevu, Kadavu lad said he started playing the sport at Form Four.
“I do what I believe and I have realised all my hardwork has paid off and I want to thank God for everything he has given me,” he said. He is the first in the family to don a national jumper and is the only one who plays basketball. “No one in the family has ever represented Fiji and I will be the first one to do that and I will make sure to make everyone at home proud of me.”
