Official and Coaches Clinic

Coaches and Referees for the Tuckers Ice Cream Secondary School Championships had their first run of clinics over the weekend.

Coaches’ clinic was conducted in the weekend at Eds Court Raiwaqa with Development officers Meme Waqairaiwai and Grace Taito.

The main aim  of the clinic was to give the teachers a fair idea of the basics of basketball so that they could go back and teach their students what they have learnt, making work easier for the volunteers.

Basketball Fiji hopes to improve the level of playing in Fiji and this all starts with ensuring the basic skills of the game is taught properly at secondary school level.

Level 1 Referees Clinic was also run over the weekend with Navi Talai .

Navi, who currently holds a level 4 certification says that ‘there is a need to upgrade the skill level of referees in Fiji ‘. These clinics allow basketball Fiji to improve the skill levels of referees and officials for the tournament and also for the betterment of the sport in the future.

Basketball Fiji with Navi will run another Level 1 Referees clinic for those that missed out, with Level 2 Certification to be held before the main Tuckers Secondary School Championships in August.
