Basketball Fiji's new officials

BASKETBALL Fiji has elected its office bearers for the next three years. Major General Ioane Naivalurua who has been at the helm for the past couple of years has been retained as president and assisted by Ned Taito who was named vice-president.

Jackie Hughes was named secretary and Ben Sikuri was elected as treasurer. Former national reps Michael Whippy and Peniasi Kainamoli were also elected committee members.

Basketball Fiji chief operations officer Laisiasa Puamau said during the annual general meeting, a strategic plan for 2015 to 2017 was tabled. He said a good vibrant team was elected during the AGM last week.

"Following the success of hosting a World Qualifying event and great lessons learnt from 2014, has set a good base to work with which is in line with Basketball Fiji's strategic plan for the next three years," he said. "The two governance documents are best reflected and described by the president in his report tabled at the AGM as; 'our growth and ambition is now reflected in BF strategic plan 2015-2017 and a constitution designed to move Basketball Fiji firmly into the 20 first century."

Puamau added; "This year's focus is on the Pacific Games as the team strives to lift the current regional standings of our national teams."
