AYAD Training at FIBA Oceania Office

G'day from Sydney, Australia. My name is Mark Seccombe and am delighted to be selected as an Australian Youth Ambasssador for Development (AYAD) to help continue the growth of basketball in Fiji for the next 12 months. I have recently completed a two-day intensive training program with Basketball Oceania who have teamed up with Basketball Fiji to help develop the sport in Fiji. Basketball Oceania are commited to all aspects of  developing basketball in the Oceania region and have been involved in the AYAD program for the past 5 years.

Whilst working with Basketball Fiji I will be assisting in expanding the schools program and local competitions, working with Fanny Simpson the current Basketball Development Officer as well as implementing sustainable measures for the continued growth of Basketball in Fiji. In short to try and get more people playing and enjoying the game in which we have all come to love.

I have been involved in basketball for much of my life as a player, coach, adminstator and fan and am thrilled to be helping the growth of basketball in Fiji. I've been very fortunate to have  played in many Australian wide tournaments and also breifly in USA and Canada on a tour. I have now found my passion in coaching and looking forward to helping all those who are keen to learn and develop their basketball skills.

I arrive in your beautiful country on the 3rd of October and very much looking forward to meeting you all soon and getting my tongue around some Fijian expressions.

Yours in Basketball,

Mark Seccombe

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
