Veterans begin to gain momentum

THE Veterans Basketball team's excellent performance is continuing to turn heads at the weekly Raiwaqa Basket-ball competition.

Raiwaqa Basketball Players Association official Malakai Ravai said the Veterans performance improved every week and it showed they have prepared for their competition. Ravai said even though Veterans joined the competition weeks after the opening, they have slowly started to get their game together and the results have been going their way lately.

"Last week they (Veterans) defeated Warr-iors who are one of the top teams in our competition.

"They are slowly getting back their fitness and playing skills so they will surely be a team to watch out for in the coming weeks," Ravai said.

The Veterans team comprises of some of Raiwaqa's former Natio-nal representatives like Peniasi Kainamoli, Joe Cash, Sowane Tamani, Johnny Vakalatai, Alan Williams and others.

Yesterday, the Raiwaqa Basketball competition had another round of games at the Eds Court.

Ravai said all teams were slowly lifting their performance with the Easter Championship next month.

"A lot of teams will use our weekly competition to prepare them for the Easter Championship wh-ich the Raiwaqa Basket-ball Players Association will host for the first time."
