NBDO Workshop Begins

10 National Basketball Development Officers arrived today for the start of the FIBA Oceania hosted NBDO Workshop being held from the 5 – 9 May at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, Australia.

The week will provide professional development for the NBDOs from Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Palau, Guam, Tahiti, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.

Today the NBDOs visited the FIBA Oceania office and were impressed by the facilities and enjoyed seeing Oceania’s ‘Home of Basketball’.  They spent some time discussing their expectations for the workshop, which included learning from other NBDOs, and learning new skills that they can take back to their own countries.

Laisiasa Puamau from Fiji’s “…expectations from the workshop is to learn from the facilitators, gather as much information as I can from the other development officers and also, it is an opportunity for me for my personal development in facilitating a workshop and I look forward to the opportunity and implementing what I’ve learnt here back home. Vinaka”

And Lafonga from Samoa is

“..expecting a lot from this meeting to help me develop basketball in Samoa…”
