NBDO Workshop Day 3

Day 3 of the FIBA Oceania National Basketball Development Officer (NBDO) Workshop concluded today with NBDO’s with some interesting topics discussed.

The day started with an opportunity to observe “Centers of Excellence” Women’s Basketball Team do some one to one drills, after that NBDO’s had some time to do a question and answer question with the head coach. Talks on practice building and drills were the main topic of discussion. .

We then had a entertaining presentation done by World Association of Basketball Coaching (WABC) Mr. Patrick Hunt. He gave words of encouragement to the group as he identified our jobs not an easy task. Mr. Hunt provided NBDO’s with an idea of where to locate resources and how NBDO’s should use these as tools to help in our countries.

3x3 was next on our agenda with Mr Kosta LLiev from FIBA presenting. He talked about the push for a global game, calling 3x3 an “Urban Competition” sighting it can be played anywhere. He touch on upcoming competitions as well as how 3x3 is trying to get in touch with today digital society, introducing Facebook, Twitter, and the actual 3x3 planet website. A general description of how to use the website as well as the event manager were touched on. Mr LLiev presentation capped off having all the NBDO’s play 3x3 against each other. Competition is always fun.

Our final topic for the day came out of OSEP learning to have effective meeting, decision processes and tools tips. The group was divided into two groups and were given 10min to have a Board Meeting while facilitators watch and evaluated. This capped off a rather interesting day 3.

This NBDO Workshop is taking place in Canberra Australia at the Australian Institute of Sports and will run throughout the week.
