COACH TIPTON, DUENAS AND SIMON DEPART FOR TURKEY

While the FIBA World Championship for Women kicks off in Ankara and Istanbul on September 27, Turkey will also be the setting for an international celebration of basketball in August when children and coaches from 100 countries arrive for Camp PASS IT ON. Camp PASS IT ON will take place from August 11–17 in Istanbul. Each participating country will send one 14-year-old boy, one 14-year-old girl, and one coach to the camp. Additionally, to honour the Turkish Basketball Federation’s (TBF) 55th anniversary 55 Turkish youngsters from across the country will participate.

“For TBF the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women is about more than the action on the court,” TBF President Turgay Demirel said. “We want to share the international basketball experience with as many children as possible, because it is our conviction that basketball can change lives.”

For Guam, the Guam Basketball Confederation (GBC) will be sending Bishop Baumgartner Memorial School Rosita Duenas along with St John School Takumi Simon the Guam Coach accompanying them is Southern High School Boys Basketball Coach Brent Tipton.

For this group this trip will be more then basketball for them. As an opportunity has been presented to them to meet players their age from all over the world.
