GBC holds Awards Ceremony for the Basketball Summer League
With the sponsorhsip of Shell Guam Inc., University of Guam, Gresco LPG, and INTERTEK many kids were able to keep active and enjoy the sport of basketball during the summer by joining a basketball team in their village. The participants of the Shell-GBC Summer League celebrated the summer league and gathered in the Phoenix Center on Saturday, August 29, 2009 for the Awards Ceremony. Coaches, parents', aunts', uncles', cousins', and friends came to show their support for the various teams. GBC President Darrel Dela Paz hosted the event. Also present were GBC's General Secretary Tony Thompson and Coach Sid Guzman of the Men's National Team. Thompson and Guzman assisted with the distribution of championship trophies, individual trophies for the championship teams, t-shirts, medals, and wristbands for all participants.

The Shell-GBC Summer Leauge also had a Developmental Divison which consisted of kids that were 8 and under, 10 and under, and 12 and under.
