NATIONAL SQUADS HIT THE WATER

The session comprised warm-up exercise in the pool followed by some stretching in the pool and then on land.  After the warm-up and stretching the players completed a number of “games” that were designed to utilize the principles of playing basketball in a pool.

After each strenuous exercise the players had a short rest and re-hydrated.  The game of “Rob the Nest” forced the players to not only exert high levels of physical effort, but also to be aware of other teams and make quick decisions.

The final exercise of a pool length relay showed that the players should stick with a future in basketball and not swimming, however it was a fun way to finish the session.

Future pool sessions may include some water aerobics with National Swimming Development Officer, Tina Shima.
