EMMAUS HIGH JUNIOR VARSITY CHAMPIONS

From a relatively slow start with each team scoring only 4 points each in the first 5 minutes of the game, the score stayed close throughout with neither team able to create a break.  At quarter time it was BMS up by 1 point, at half time again they were up by 1 point and the biggest margin in the game was the 4 points that BMS led by at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Both coaches were doing a great job in controlling their players from breaking into the usual “street ball” game and the defence was something senior teams could take note of.

With 2 minutes remaining it was locked up at 53 all, at 1 minute and thirty seconds it was 56 all and in the dying minute EHS managed to have the last shot to score the winning basketball, despite a desperate last second shot from the centre line by BMS

For the Squires, Delbirt was the game high scorer with 30 points and ably assisted by Colby with 15.  For Raptors,  Marlo scored 10 points while Jovany, Gibbson, Kimo and Rengschol all scored 9 points.

With all this talent it is probable that many of these young players will be selected in the forthcoming Youth Development Squad.

The NDC commented it was possibly the best game of basketball he had seen in Palau since the Belau Games last year.

Emmaus High School also took out 3rd place with a win by EHS White.
