FILIPINO LEAGUE OPENS FOR 2010

Following a colourful opening ceremony lasting some 45 minutes, during which the current Executive and Committee, under President Ronnie Giman, were presented and the Oath of Sportsmanship was taken by last year’s MVP, Bong Alambra, the first 2 games of the new season got under way.

This year the FBL has several new teams and those of last year have managed to “steal” a few players from other teams.  This all adds up for a new combination of rivalries as the competition progresses.

In the first game, Ilocandia Bulls showed the new team, Hanpa Cardinals what the FBL is all about with a comfortable win set up by their fast breaking game that is likely to cause many teams lots of trouble throughout the year.

The FBL is by far the best presented sports competition in Palau, with their game presentation and tremendous spectator support.  Their teams are always well turned out and games usually start on time (something of a novelty among sports in Palau).

With a very professional committee and executive, the leadership in everything is always first class.   The FBL will continue through until October and is played every Sunday with 4 games each day.

Basketball Palau wishes the FBL a very successful 2010 season.
