BMP ALL STARS REIGN SUPREME

Everybody agreed that Fridays clash was a great game.  BMP Head Coach, Ken Keltner, had nothing but praise for the performance of the Palau team.  Trailing at the end of each quarter, Team Palau rallied with extra effort in the final term to clinch the 1 point victory.  The physicality of the game showed that the Palauans will not give up without a “fight”.

Saturday’s game had all the ingredients of another great game, but whatever Team Palau did to catch up, the poise and patience of the BMP All Stars helped them assert their authority time and time again.  Coach Keltner always had his players under control and with excellent substitutions always had fresh players on the court to counter every move that Palau made.

The Tournament was a huge success in terms of assisting in the preparation of the Palau Team for the upcoming Micronesian Games.  PBF President, Frank Kyota was on hand to witness his team play at another level.  Following the game he was full of praise for the way that Palau played.

In the Women’s Super league the game was abandoned in the second quarter due to the slippery condition of the floor.  Coach Domingo, rightfully so, was not prepared to create further injuries to an already injury riddled team.

Following the men’s game, Basketball Palau held a small function at Sara’s Yum Yum Restaurant to thank the BMP All Stars for their visit and the work that they had completed, not only in providing Team Palau with much needed competition but also the several basketball skills session conducted and the successful Island Jams Tournaments.

President Kyota thanked the local Biblical Ministries personnel in John Zimmer and Jon Clapp for helping to put all this together and also thanked the Coaching Staff in Ken Keltner and Jon Shane for their work.  Jim Towberman’s assistance in sponsoring the visit was warmly appreciated also.  Coach Keltner commented that maybe next time they will try to bring a women’s team to provide opportunity for the Palau women to play.
