PMA WARRIORS WIN BOY’S VARSITY TITLE

Knights big forward Oltag Olkeriil caused the Warriors defence all sorts of trouble with his power moves to the basket and his strong rebounding at both ends. His contribution of 26 points kept the Knights in the game. The Knights also received good contributions from C-Boy Adelbai with 12 and Dillon with 13 points.

For the Warriors their scoring was more evenly spread around. Their control in offence gave them many easy baskets until the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter when they seemed to get caught up in the frenetic pace of the Knights offence and tried to match their speed up and down the court, resulting in several turnovers and providing the Knights with just a “sniff” of victory.

However, in these final minutes the Warriors defence started to stop the penetration of the Knights Oltag Olkeriil and managed to control the rebounding much better which resulted in them hanging on for the 12 point victory. Leading by 18 points with just 3 minutes remaining the Warriors lost their way for the next 2 minutes as Knights made a strong charge at their lead, but the better fitness of the Warriors stood them in good stead in the dying stages of the game.

In the Consolation Game for 3rd place PHS Spiders B managed to out score their compatriots PHS Spiders C by 72-62 to win third place.

The ISL competitions now go into recess until mid January when the Elementary Boys and Girls Leagues will commence.
