RENGIIL, KUMANGAI NAMED PNOC ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

Rengiil was named as PNOC’s female athlete of the year for her performance in tennis not only in Palau but by also representing her country to regional and international competitions.

 Aside from being PNOC’s female athlete of the year, Rengiil was also named as tennis female athlete of the year.

 On the other hand, Olai Kumangai was named PNOC’s male athlete of the year for donning the color of Palau in triathlon during the Micronesian Games in which Palau hosted. He also excelled in other sporting discipline such as canoe, swimming and triathlon.

 Kumangai was also named as Belau Triathlon Federation’s male athlete of the year.

 Aside from Chilton and Patris, other PNOC awardees were Katsuo Fuji (volunteer of the year), Sen. Mlib Tmetuchl (coach of the year), Vangeline Stephanus (technical official of the year), Koror State Government (sponsor of the year), Shimbros International (corporate sponsor of the year) and Alonz Moses (special recognition).

 Aside from the PNOC, other sports federation also named their respective awardees.  PNOC president Frank Kyota, PNOC secretary general Bakla Temengil, Senator Regis Akitaya together with the presidents and vice presidents of the different sports federations gave out the awards. President Johnson Toribiong and Oceania National Olympic Committee (ONOC) secretary general Ricardo Blas were the guests of honor for the event.

 The awards night was in recognition to athletes, coaches, volunteers, associations and corporate sponsors who have given their talent and time in promoting sports. It is also giving recognition to athletes who have excelled in their respective events.
