NGERCHEMAI A WIN 12 AND UNDER CHAMPIONSHIP

During the trophy presentation, Ivan Blesam, representing the Koror State Youth Division, spoke of the high standard of play that developed during the league and the excitement that players created among their supporters. Most basketball stalwarts, such as Frank Kyota, Bill Keldermans and Sinton Soalabali who all stopped in to see the games, were amazed at the standard that players developed and most commented that the future of basketball in Palau was very bright if we can continue to develop this age group over the next few years.

During the presentations NBDO and PBF Vice President, Topps Sungino, presented a Molten basketball to the highest points scorer during the league, Wallace Worswick, who finished with 176 point in 10 games at an average of 17.6 points per game. A remarkable achievement for an 11 year old boy.

In the consolation final it was Echung South Coast who finished the stronger to defeat Peched Red in another exciting game. In fifth place was Ngerchemai Central B followed by Meda Kids B in sixth. Seventh place went to Ididers B and eighth place to Ididers A with Meyuns finishing ninth.

In announcing the All Star Teams and Coaches for next week’s Super League, Topps Sungino suggested that we were in for some exciting games and urged all parents and families to attend to see their children in action.

The Koror State Youth Division and Basketball Palau are delighted with the standard created in ther 12 and Under League and the previous 14 Years and Under League and look forward to more exciting basketball in the upcoming 16 Years and Under League at the end of June.
