WU downs Bulls as Jaguar snap losing skid

Defending champion Western Union continued its winning ways after beating the Ilocandia Bulls while the Jaguars snap a four-game losing streak with a win against the PNQ Rams, last September 25 in the 2011 Filipino Basketball League (FBL) played at the Palau National gym.

Trailing 20-19, Western Union showed its champion form as they orchestrated a 25-18 run against the Ilocandia Bulls to close the first half on top, 44-38. From there, Western Union kept the Bulls at bay as they closed the game, 88-77.

Three point sniper Erwin Senadre led the scoring chores for Western Union with 23 points and his performance was backed up by Emerson Patenia who tallied 20 as they still keep the lead in the team standings with a 13-2 win-loss record while Joeger Supnet finished the game with 24 as they are now 8-9.

On the other hand, the Jaguar snapped a four game losing skid as they beat the PNQ Rams, 67-53. It was must win for the Jaguars as they improve their chance going into the quarterfinals.

Budz Pabro and Michael Garcia led the scoring for the Jaguars with 16 and 13 markers, respectively as they are now 6-9 while Jun Mahor and Jun Duenas topped for the Rams with identical 12 baskets as they remain in the cellar with a 1-14 count.

In other games, the Spoilers humbled the Slashers, 124-96; and Mam’l Divers Rangers bested Surangel and Sons, 93-81.

FBL chairman Ronnie Giman said that no games will be played on October 2 in observance of the Independence Day celebration. Games will resume on October 9 at the same venue.
