PHS, PMA A nail win in ISL Girl’s varsity hoopfest
Palau High School (PHS) Lady Spiders and Palau Mission Academy (PMA) team A opened their respective campaigns on a high note after beating respective opponents at the start of the 2011 Inter-School League girl’s basketball league played in separate venues.
PHS Lady Spiders came up big in the second half as they went all the way to beat Mindszenty High School Lady Cardinals, 56-31 at the Mindszenty High School gym. Trailing 15-23 at the end of the first half, the Lady Spiders found their second wind as they blew past the Lady Cardinals in the second half.
The Lady Spiders displayed their defensive prowess as they limited the Lady Cardinals to 8 points in the whole second half that pushed them to the win. Charmain led the Lady Spiders with 19 points while Isabel Godaii finished with 15 for the Lady Cardinals.
On the other hand, PMA team A had an easy time as they repulsed sister team PMA team B, 73-14 in the game played as the SDA gym. Esichang Ubedei led the scoring chores for PMA team A with 28 points as teammate Otong Tewid added 10 while Jada Mane topscored for PMA team B with 6 markers on the losing side.
