Diluches, Ngebard score win in Girl’s 17 and under cagefest

Team Diluches and Ngebard showed they are the teams to watch out for as they scored separate victories over their rivals, Wednesday night, to start the 2012 Girl’s 17 and under basketball league at the Palau National gym.

Diluches showed dominance in the scoring department as they beat Dims with a come from behind 41-34 victory. Down 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, Diluches waxed hot in the second as they established a 14-7 run to close the first half with a 24-18 lead.

From there, Diluches hanged on to the lead as they prevented a possible Dims comeback to score the win. Ayla Azuma topscored for Diluches with 14 points in their first win while Lucy Aguon carried the load for Dims with 22 on the losing end.

On the other hand, Gail Tirso poured 22 markers as she led team Ngebard over Ongos, 62-46 also for their first win.

Games will resume tonight with Dims versus Ngebard at 6 p.m. while Diluches will face Ongos in the main game at 7:30 p.m.

April 9 matches will feature Ngebard against Diluches at 6 p.m. while Ongos will take on Dims at 7:30 p.m.
