PBF finalizing line up for MYBT 17 and Under

The Palau Basketball Federation (PBF) is finalizing the roster for team Palau that will compete in the men’s 17 and Under Western Division of the Micronesia Youth Basketball Tournament which will be held in CNMI from May 21 to 26.

According to PBF vice president and National Basketball Development Officer Kazuki “Topps” Sungino, they will be sending only the men’s team and they have submitted the team entry forms.

“We have listed the names of the players for the team. We just need to meet with their parents regarding the expenses for this trip. Players will be required to pay a participation fee of $250 each for them to play for this tournament. All in all we need a total of $17,145 for the team to compete in this tournament,” Sungino explained.

He added that the PNOC team support grant has agreed to give $5,000 for the team and the PBF development fund, which is sponsored by IP&E Palau had also agreed to give $6,500 to the team. Sungino said that they are still waiting for the reply of other sponsors for the team.

The team will be coached by Ziske Asanuma and assisted by Logan Ngiriou. Making the roster for the team are RB Dorado, Marvic Ngchar, Ray Rumong, Luke Wilter, Cullen Carlson, Shonty Ubedei, Madormel Yaoch, O’brein Ngemaes, Edward Baysa, Tavon Borja, Cody Rorer and Keene I.

Sungino said that they will determine if the team is ready and prepared to see action for the tournament by April 20.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
