FR Spoilers collides with WU in FBL Sunday

Defending champion FR Spoilers will test their limits as they face Western Union this Sunday in the resumption of the semifinal round of the 2012 Filipino Basketball League (FBL) at the Palau National gym.

Game time is set at 2:30 p.m.

The Spoilers, sporting a 2-0 win-loss record, will again rely on its line up composed of Lester Mendoza, Mark Pagayanan, Coco Gonzales, Michael Bombita and Aries Echanova while Western Union (1-1) will be led by Dennis Castro, Bong Alambra, Emerson Patenia, Erwin Senadre, rookie Nino Cajegas and sweet shooting Jun Ponting.

On the other hand, MJ Rangers aims to bounce back from their lost last weekend as they play against Surangel and Sons in the curtain raiser at 1 p.m.

The Rangers will try to score a win and improve their chances of getting a spot in the championship round. They will have brothers Jay and Joemar Naguit, Mike Guevarra, Nico Hinoza and veteran skipper Jimmy Domingo.

Meanwhile, Surangel and Sons (0-2) hopes to score a win in the semis to boost their morale as they rely on the performances of Arnold Undecimo, Eric Manio, Bong Gayongorsa, Gener Aguinaldo, Norbert Nova, Melvin Parrinas and Ryan Tayag.

The semifinal round will follow a single round robin format with the top two squads moving on to the championship round, which will be a best of three series, while the lower two teams will vie for the consolation game.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
