MOF Omsangel GBL season finals

Team Ministry of Finance (MOF) Omsangel made a huge rally in the fourth quarter to make a comeback and beat a tough Mason’s Hardware, 84-83 to win the championship crown of the Season Finals of the 2012 season of the Rudimch Enterprise Government/Business League, Tuesday night at the Palau National gym.

Down 80-79 with just 1:37 left in the game, Roydan Renguul took matters into his own hands as he managed to make a steal off Mason’s Hadrware’s Dennis De Mate and make a lay up to grab the lead at 81-80 with 58 seconds remaining.

Mason’s Hardware then tried to score in their next possession but MOF Omsangel’s Tutii Benjamin grabbed the ball and scored on a short jumper to give his team an 83-80 cushion. Mason’s Hardware tried to score in the next play but could not get the ball into the rim. Renguul would put the icing on the cake with his free throw to make it 84-80.

Mason’s Hardware’s Reid Una Rikrik sank in a desperate three point shot with less than 10 seconds left in the game to cut the lead at 84-83. But was not enough as they missed out on the next play that pave way for MOF Omsangel to claim the win and sealing the championship series with a 2-0 count.

Sunshine Soalablai topscored for MOF Omsangel with 33 points as Renguul and Tutii Benjamin chipped in identical 13 markers, respectively. Rirk, on the other hand, paced Mason’s Hardware with 24 on the losing end.

In the consolation game, team ABC won over Galaxy Builders, 2-0.
