Stingers, Breakers score win in IP&E ABL

Team Stingers and Breakers continued their winning ways after beating respective opponents, Friday night in the ongoing 2012-2013 season of the IP&E Amateur Basketball League at the Palau National gym.

Team Stingers showed their experience as they defeated the National 17 and Under squad, 86-77. The Stingers showed their defense as they limited the younger National 17 and Under squad to 7 points in the first half against their 26.

From there, the Stingers went all the way as Douglas Schmidt Jr. finished the game with 39 points while Ivan Blesam and Vann Isaac added 16 markers, respectively.

The National 17 and Under squad tried to rebound from the match as they spurted a 31-18 rally in the third canto to cut the lead at 59-56. But the National 17 and Under squad could not get their thing going in the final canto as they fell short. Marvic Ngchar topscored for the National 17 and Under squad with 24 as teammate Edward Baysa chipped in 19 on the losing end.

On the other hand, five players from team Breakers scored in double digits as they romped away with the win over Peches, 87-51. Robinson Richard led the scoring fray for the Breakers with 19 as teammates Jim, Masao Umedip, Basil Gibbons and Moses Bismark added 14, 13 and 12 baskets, in that order.

Peches duo of Airworlf Filibert and Rhyme Termeteet finished the game with identical 11 points, respectively on the losing side.

Games will resume tonight with Meda versus WCC Hammers at 6 p.m. followed by the PCC Mesekiu-Breakers tussle at 7:30 p.m. as Melekeok Salty Boys will face Aimeliik Rainers in the main game at 9 p.m.

Wednesday night games will feature Melngoes against National 17 and Under at 6 p.m. as Mesang Red Storm takes on Rivals at 7:30 p.m. while Bullets will test WCC Hammers at 9 p.m. Thursday night matches will have Papago Smooth taking on Optimax at 6 p.m. followed by the WCC Hammers-Melwert match at 7:30 p.m. while Melngoes will face PCC Mesekiu in the night cap at 9 p.m.
