Mekeald wins Ngaraard 3-on-3 hoopfest

After two days of competitions for the championship, team Mekeald emerged as the winner of the Ngaraard 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Mekeald closed down the series against Ungelel with a 2-0 count as they closed Sunday’s game with a 49-38 score.

In the consolation game, Madedengiil bested Roisingang, 55-53 to settle for third place honors.

Palau Referee Association represented by Jubilee Kuartei and Dilngerii “DI” Maech, were on hand to officiate and provide referee support to the two days championship games.  

They also tallied the highest point scored by a player in the whole playoff and championship series and judged Ringang Ksano of Team Ungelel, who averaged 31 points a game, as the MVP.  

Organizers thank the participating teams namely Mekeald, Roisingang, Madedengiil, Ungelel and Ngemeduu.  

The next programs that will be offered to the Youth of Ngaraard include a basketball clinic and softball fastpitch program on the weekends.  

Special thanks also go out to Soak Kau Store for donating the trophies.  Other supporters of the event include Delegate Gibson Kanai, Acting Principal Spis Sakuma, John Temengil of Soak Kau Store and Chiefs of Ulimang and Ngaraard Community.
