Islanders tally 1st win in WNBL
Team Odasangel Islanders went off to a good start as they downed team Money, 40-65 Tuesday night in the ongoing 2013 Surangel and Sons Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) at the Palau National gym.
The Islanders came in strong as they took a 19-8 run in the third to take a 52-30 lead going into the last canto. From there it was just a walk in the park for the Islanders as they went all the way to win the game.
Jess and Tara paced the Islanders with identical 16 points while Diliaur topscored for team Money with 10 on the losing end.
In other games, Kryptonite won over Nationals, 64-53.
Games will resume tonight with Islanders versus Kryptonite at 6 p.m. while Nationals will face Smooth Riders on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
A total of six teams are seeing action in the tournament namely Odasangel Islanders, Kryptonite, Peched, Money, Nationals and Smooth Riders.
