Spoilers down WU, 110-85 in FBL Sunday

Defending champions FR Spoilers nailed its fourth straight win at the expense of Western Union, 110-85 Sunday in the ongoing 2013 season of the Filipino Basketball League at the Palau National gym.

After taking a 29-20 lead, the Spoilers showed might as they took a 30-16 run to close the half with a 59-36 lead. In the third quarter, the Spoilers continued their domination in the paint as they outscored Western Union with a 30-18 output as they established a 89-54 advantage.

From there, the Spoilers would go on to win the game with Michael Bombita leading the scoring chores with 37 points as Aries Echanova and Mark Pagayanan chipped in 22 and 19 markers. The win placed the Spoilers on top of the team standings with a 4-1 win-loss record.

On the other hand, Western Union tried to get back in the game but did not have the fuel to climbed back into the match as they suffered their second loss for a 2-2 tally with Dennis Castro finishing the game with 20 as Ewrin Senadre added 17 on the losing end.

In other games, Hanpa Cardinals won over PNQ Rams, 85-66; RP Rangers defeated PRA Choppers, 85-76; and Jaguars dumped Liquid Skyy, 78-60.

Games will resume on April 28 with Jaguar versus Jr. Nationals at 11 a.m. followed by the PRA Choppers-Ilocandia Bulls match at 12:30 p.m. as PNQ Rams will face Liquid Skyy at 2 p.m. while Hanpa Cardinals will take on RP Rangers in the main game at 3:30 p.m.

Games are supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF). This year’s FBL League is supported by ATT Bar and Restaurant, HE Automotive, Palasia Hotel, Palau Royal Resort, Surangel and Sons Company, FR Construction, Engrs.
