GBH wins EASC Central School boys bball title

Team George B. Harris Elementary School (GBH) went on to beat a tough Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Elementary School, 53-51 to win the championship crown of the 2013 Elementary After School Competition (EASC) Central School boys basketball tournament played at the Palau National gym.

The game was tied at 51-all in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter when GBH’s Chama Ngiralmau put things on his shoulder as he sank the game winning basket to GBH the crown.

Aside from winning the title, GBH managed to keep its winning streak alive since taking a 7-0 win-loss tally in the elimination round. With the feat GBH’s top player Wallace Worswick finished the game with 11 points while Ngiralmau chipped in 8 baskets.

On the other hand, Carson Sumang topscored for the SDA Kings with 16 markers but was not enough to fuel them back to score the win.

Winners received their trophies from PBF National Development Officer Topps Sungino immediately after the championship game.

Schools that saw action in the tournament were Seventh Day Adventist Elementary School; Koror Elementary School; Maris Stella School; George B. Harris Elementary School and Meyuns Elementary School.

The event was under the supervision of the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF). For more information call Topps at 488-4491.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
