Ngatpang continues lead in basketball

Team Ngatpang continued their winning streak in the men’s basketball of the 2013 Belau Games this time beating a youthful lineup of Ngardmau, 108-71 Sunday night at the Palau National gym.

Ngatpang dominated the game from the opening tip off till the sound of the last buzzer leaving no room for error in their win. The win placed Ngatpang still in top of the team standings with a 6-0 win-loss record while Ngardmau fell 1-5.

In other games, Peleliu won over Ngiwal, 97-68; Sonsorol downs Kayangel, 92-90; Melekeok defeated Airai, 45-43; and Ngaraard bested Hatohobei, 88-85.

In the distaff side, Ngaraard still leads the team standings with a 5-0 win-loss record after their 69-38 win over Ngeremelngui.

With the loss, Ngeremlengui is still winless with a 0-5 tally.

Games resume today with the ranking games and semifinals. The women’s championship will be played Wednesday at 1 p.m. while the men’s gold match will follow at 3 p.m.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
