Surangel Kings, Team ABC score win in GBL playoffs

Teams Surangel Kings and team ABC lives to fight another day as they managed to beat separate rivals to stay in course as the 2013 season of the Rudimch Enterprise Government/Business League enters the playoff round at the Palau National gym.

Surangel Kings kept their playoff hopes alive after escaping a 70-68 win over a tough Galaxy Builders, Tuesday night. The Kings were down at the end of the first half via 30-33 when they were able to adjust and play as a unit in the third as they outscored Galaxy Builders with a 21-19 run to cut the lead at 52-51.

Then in the final canto, it was a seesaw battle as both teams managed to grab the lead, but the Kings prevailed as they hanged on and went for the win. Arnold Undecimo led the scoring fray for the Kings as he normed 21 points while teammate Reid Una Rikrik chipped in 17 markers.

On the other hand, King Ngiraboi topscored for Galaxy Builders with 18 while Emerson Patenia added 16 in the losing end.

Meanwhile, team ABC eluded an early exit in the playoffs as they went on to beat the President’s X-Men, 79-78. It was a come from behind victory as team ABC was down 15-24 in the first quarter but managed to gain the lead at the close of the first half as they outgunned the President’s X-Men with a 28-18 run as they took the lead at 43-42.

From there, they never looked back as they went on to score the win with Rob leading the way with 36 markers as teammate Ziske Asanuma normed 26 while Douglas Schmidt topscored for the President’s X-Men with 28 on the losing end.

There will be no games tonight as Palau joins the whole world in celebrating the United Nations Day and the Olechotel Belau Fair (OBF). Games will resume Friday night with Sam’s Sharks versus PRR Dragons at 6 p.m. followed by the WCTC-PPR Shark Attack tussle at 7:30 p.m. while MOJ Lawmen will meet PNCC Molekoi in the main game at 9 p.m.
