Meda Boys evade Stingers, 83-62 in IP&E ABL

Team Medalaii Meda Boys secured another win this time besting Neco Marine Stingers, 83-62 Wednesday night in the ongoing 2013-14 season of the IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.

The Meda Boys dictated the tempo of the game as they sealed the first half with a 35-31 advantage. Then they went for the kill in the third canto as they outscored the Stingers with a 26-13 run to establish a 61-44 advantage.

From there, the Meda Boys held on as they went on to take the win with RB Dorado leading the way with 16 points. He got a lot of support from his crew as Cody and Carson Sumor chipped in 15 and 12, respectively.

On the other hand, Jacques Stills topscored for the Stingers with 13 while Tochong Abear and Lovelynson Wally finished the game with identical 10 markers each on the losing end.

Meanwhile, Surangel Kings manage to dispose of Papago Smooth via 72-58. Nico Hinoza and Chris Yorke did much of the damage as they tallied identical 16 baskets each while Rob Saunders single handedly carried the load for Papago Smooth with his 30 point performance.

In other games, Ngermid Rivals won over Melngoes, 95-49; Breakers beat PCC Mesekiu, 83-78; Ranchers defeated Ididers, 94-53; Lawmen PEAC bested Ngiwal 79ers, 68-60; Meyuns Red Storm outscored Hanpa Cardinals, 77-75; Raw Surf beat Ikelauans, 81-79; and Ngarchelong Blue Sharks escape Surangel Kings, 84-83.

Games will resume tonight with Airwaves versus Matakui at 6 p.m. while Breakers will face Lawmen PEAC at 7:30 p.m.

Then the tournament will take a Christmas Break and games will resume on December 26 with Meyuns Red Storm against Papago Smooth at 6 p.m. followed by the PCC Mesekiu-Ikelauans tussle at 7:30 p.m. while Raw Surf will meet Meda Boys at 9 p.m.

Teams this season, teams are divided into two pools. Pool A will have Papago Smooth, Ngarchelong Blue Shark, Ngaraard Red Torch, Hanpa Cardinals, Surangel Kings, Meyuns Red Storm, Melngoes, Ranchers, Ididers and Ngermid Rivals. Pool B will be composed of MEDA Boys, Matakui, Idid 4x4 Wheelers, Ikelauans, Stingers, Lawmen PEAC, Raw Surf, Breakers, Airwaves and PCC Mesekiu.
