Meda Boyz tame Breakers in IP&E ABL

Pool B leaders Medalaii Meda Boys again showed dominance as they went on to beat the Breakers, 67-56 Wednesday night in the ongoing IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.

Taking a 15-13 lead at the end of the opening quarter, Meda Boyz outscored the Breakers with a 19-9 assault in the second as they closed the first half with a 34-22 lead. From there, the Meda Boyz held on to score the win.

RB Dorado clipped 14 points as he paced the Meda Boyz while Moses Bismark, Robinson Richard and Henaro Antonio picked up the scoring clutches for the Breakers with 17, 13 and 10 markers, respectively on the losing end.

On the other hand, Christopher Filimew tallied 23 baskets as his teammate Michael Jackson chipped in 22 enough to push PCC Mesekiu against Lawmen PEAC, 70-64. It was a hard earned win for Mesekiu as both team engaged in a shootout throughout the ball game.

But PCC Mesekiu used their quickness and youthfulness as they managed to sail with the win. Despite the loss, Sabino Kyota topscored for the Lawmen with 17 while teammate Bisa Demei added 15 points on a losing cause.

In other games, Papago Smooth won over Melngoes, 76-70; Ngaraard Red Torch beat Blue Sharks, 73-70; Neco Marine Stingers bested the Ikelauans, 103-96; Idid 4x4 Wheelers downed Matakui, 96-94; Surangel Kings defeated Hanpa Cardinals, 103-98; Raw Surf won over Lawmen PEAC, 76-65; and Ranchers drubbed Meyuns Red Storm, 85-47.

Games resume tonight with Raw Surf versus Matakui at 6 p.m. while Meyuns Red Storm will face the Blue Sharks at 7:30 p.m. Monday night games will have Stingers versus Idid 4x4 Wheelers at 6 p.m. followed by the Surangel Kings-Ngaraard Red Torch tussle at 7:30 p.m. while Papago Smooth will face the Ranchers in the main game at 9 p.m.

Teams this season, teams are divided into two pools. Pool A will have Papago Smooth, Ngarchelong Blue Shark, Ngaraard Red Torch, Hanpa Cardinals, Surangel Kings, Meyuns Red Storm, Melngoes, Ranchers, Ididers and Ngermid Rivals. Pool B will be composed of MEDA Boys, Matakui, Idid 4x4 Wheelers, Ikelauans, Stingers, Lawmen PEAC, Raw Surf, Breakers, Airwaves and PCC Mesekiu.
