IP&E ABL Final Four: Rivals enter finals as Red Torch levels series

Team Ngermid Rivals formally enters the finals while Ngaraard Red Torch survives another day after beating separate foes in the ongoing semifinals of the IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.

The Rivals made it formal their entry to the finals after beating Medalaii Meda Boyz, 100-84, Friday night in Game Two of their best of three series. With the win, the Rivals close the series with a 2-0 count.

After leading 65-56, the Rivals broke the game wide open as they anchored a 35-28 run in the final canto enough to put a distance against the Meda Boyz and secure the win and enter the finals.

Seven players from the Rivals finished the game in double digits. King Ngiraboi led the way with 21 as Elway Ngiraboi chipped in 16. Other players from the Rivals that closed with double figures were Marvic Ngchar (13), Ody Yalap (12), Spis Gordon (11) Vincent Kulas and Ray Rumong with identical 10 points, respectively.

Despite on a losing effort, RB Dorado topscored for the Meda Boys with 30 baskets while teammate Spyce Koshiba and Oscar Page contributed 17 and 11 markers, in that order.

On the other hand, Ngaraard Red Torch gets to live to fight another day as they managed to level their own series beating the Surangel Kings, 104-97 Saturday night.

With the win, the series is locked at 1-all. The Red Torch used a 30-18 third quarter rally enough to fend off the Kings and take the win.

Anthony Rudimch topscored for the Red Torch with 29 while teammates Traxx Mark Remeliik, Liff Eberdong and Douglas Schmidt chipped in 27, 16 and 11, respectively. Arnold Undecimo, on the other hand, finished the game with 31 markers as Adam McQuistan added 26 for the Kings on the losing end.

Winners of the Final Four will battle for the best of three championship crown while the losers will gun for third place honors.

Teams are reminded to use their uniform in every game. The jersey/t-shirts should match with the shorts and their numbers. Teams will be charged $25 for failure to comply and will be defaulted.
