Ranchers won over WCC Hammers in IP&E NBL

Team Ngerchemai Ranchers improved their standing after beating the WCC Hammers, 70-67, Tuesday night in the ongoing elimination round of the 2014 IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) at the Palau National gym.

After taking a 12-11 lead in the opening quarter, the Ranchers spurted a 22-17 run in the second as they closed the first half of play with a 34-28 advantage. They continued their run in the third canto as they outscored the Hammers with a 21-16 output to widen their gap at 55-44.

Even though they were outscored in the final quarter via 23-15, the Ranchers continued their pace as they breezed through with the win. Edward Baysa led the scoring chores for the Ranchers with 21 as Cosby Kelmal and Osamu Ngirch chipped in 12 and 10, respectively.

On the other hand, Franky Kuchad topscored for WCC Hammers with 23 while Mike Williams added 18 on the losing end.

Games resume tonight with Peched Raw versus Ngaraard Red Torch at 7 p.m. while Medalaii Meda Boyz will face Ngermid Rivals in the main game at 8:30 p.m.
