Bulls win FBL Finals

Youth showed its advantage.

This is how to sum up how the Ilocandia Bulls pulled a 97-92 win over a hard fighting Western Union, Sunday to win the Season finals of the Filipino Basketball League (FBL) played at the Palau National gym.

Trailing 66-65 going into the final frame of the game, Finals MVP Marvic Ngchar put on a shooting clinic as he drilled three triples from way beyond the arc including a counted foul triple to lift the Bulls at 74-66 with less than 5:45 remaining in the game.

As Western Union tightened the defense in Ngchar, RB Dorado and Edward Baysa took over the scoring chores and pave way for the Bulls to claim the title. Ngchar finished the game with 29 points while Dorado and Baysa chipped in 26 and 14, respectively.

On the other hand, Western Union could have took the game but ace scorers Bong Alambra and Dennis Castro suffered cramps to their legs in the pivotal minutes of the game and saw the title slipped their grip.

Alambra tallied 19 markers while Castro had 18 backing the performance of Anon Cajegas, who fouled out of the game with 7 minutes in the fourth canto, as he topscored with 20 on the losing end.

Other awardees include 1st Mythical five – Al Obrero, Erwin Senadre, Raul Osias, RB Dorado and Edward Baysa; 2nd Mythical five – Rex de Asis, Nico Hinoza, Anon Cajegas, Arnold Undecimo and Mark Louie Lofranco; Mark Mirasol (Rookie of the Year); ZJ Asido (Most Improve Player); Bong Alambra (Defensive Player of the Year); Ryan Cacho (Sixth Man Award); PNQ Crusher (Sportsmanship Award); Ben Asuncion (Coach of the Year); and Dennis Castro (Season MVP).
